Bungie has claimed it has “irrefutable evidence” after it banned a popular Destiny 2 community member for sharing confidential information.

The studio said its Security and Legal teams had reviewed this evidence, including “video recordings, verified messages, and images describing a pattern over time that confirm the same individual shared confidential information from Community Summits spanning multiple years.”

Bungie continued in its announcement on Twitter – “We are very disappointed to have learned this information and wish that things had gone differently with this person. We do not take these actions lightly, and we are confident in our decision. This is our final communication on the matter.”

While Bungie didn’t name the community member in question, many believe the person being referred to be Ekuegan – a popular Destiny 2 Twitch streamer who found themselves unexpectedly banned last week – although he denies any wrong-doing and said “I did not leak anything” in a tweet from April 15. This came just hours after Bungie itself had tweeted on the topic of creators and community members potentially leaking confidential information.

“Community interaction and engagement is central to Bungie and our games,” it tweeted. “For years, we’ve invited creators and other members of the community to confidential summits to provide feedback on the future of Destiny. This is a beloved part of the process, but relies heavily on trust. Breaches of this trust could result in our inability to hold more summits. We take these breaches extremely seriously and are taking actions to reinforce our policies with those invited to these internal meetings.”

In a subsequent thread a couple of days later, Ekugan elaborated on their own ban: “All I know is, that company made a huge mistake and I will clear my name. I am working on it, don’t worry.” He also shared a screenshot of the almost 20,000 hours he’d put into streaming Destiny 2 and said “People ask why did I quit? I am banned During Grand Master Season, I am forced to quit and I have to let my audience know. People put two and two together from their statement.” – which seemed to prompt Bungie’s response, coming just a few hours later.
