The Dell XPS 600 will cost from $3000 (no details on a UK price yet) and will available to customers in a few weeks. The XPS 600 will feature an Nforce Chipset enabling the use of a SLI configuration, which allows two videocards in one motherboard giving much increased performance. The system will contain two 256MB GeForce 7800 GTX graphics cards and up to 8GB of 667MHz DDR 2 SDRAM. Hoping to attract the hardcore gamer, Dell will be showing the system off at QuakeCon.
The Dell XPS 600 is the industry’s first PC to come as standard with dual x16 connects (connections for PCI Express videocards) that are provided by the new Nvidia chipset and Dell do not plan for any non-XPS systems to be equipped with SLI in the near future. Over here in the UK we can expect these gaming machines to eventually become available, but no release has been announced.
