Blizzard has announced that the Deathmatch (aka Free-For-All) and Team Deathmatch game modes are now open to the general public in Overwatch following a stint on the Overwatch Public Test Realm. Yay.
For those who like to go solo, Free-For-All mode enables Heroes to put their individual skills to the test. Eight players compete against each other to earn the most kills, while the in-game scoreboard keeps track of the action, as each player attempts to score 20 points. If a player is killed, then a point is deducted from their score.
Finally, Team Deathmatch is for those who prefer to group up with some like-minded folk and take on other teams in the quest to reach 30 points, because teamwork makes the dream work. Each kill gains a point for the team, whilst a player’s death deducts a point from the scoreboard.Â
Along with the addition of Deathmatch and Team Deathmatch, a number of maps have been modified to work with the new game types. A new map has been introduced to the game.  Chateau Guillard is the ancestral home of Widowmaker, and is now available for all Free-For-All-Matches.
Some fans were unsure about Deathmatch being added to a game built on teamwork, so we’ll see how well we all take to it now it’s live.
