EA has confirmed to IGN that Dead Space: Extraction will not be making use of Nintendo’s upcoming Wii MotionPlus peripheral, despite reports to the contrary last week.

During the 2009 Goldman Sachs Technology and Internet Conference last week, EA COO John Pleasants was reported to have confirmed MotionPlus support for a host of titles, one of which being Dead Space: Extraction.

IGN contacted EA for clarification and it turns out comments made by Pleasants were misinterpreted and the game will not be using Wii MotionPlus. IGN also assumes the game’s focus on light gun gameplay means MotionPlus simply isn’t necessary.
