EA has revealed it plans to release Dead Space 2 in its fiscal 2011 fourth quarter – January through March 2011.

The survival horror sequel won’t be the only big release from the publishing power house in the early part of the year. According to EA Chief Operating Officer John Schappert, Visceral’s latest will be joined by “another big driving simulation from Need for Speed, a new shooter being developed by Epic Studios and co-published by EA, and finally something far reaching from Mass Effect”.

The driving simulation from Need for Speed is presumably a follow-up to Shift, the Epic Studios shooter must be a reference to the People Can Fly title announced back in August 2008, but what does EA mean when is says “something far reaching from Mass Effect”?

Also scheduled for the three month period ending March 31, 2011 are a new entry in the Dragon Age franchise (listed by EA for console, PC and handheld), an unannounced action title for consoles, an unannounced fighting title from EA Sports (potentially Fight Night), a new Sims title for PC and a new entry from the Spore franchise for PC and consoles.
