Capcom’s Dead Rising stormed out of the gates back in August and took only two weeks to ship 500,000 units. Despite interest in the game dying down in the months that followed, Capcom managed to ship more than one million units of the game worldwide in 2006 – the 41st Capcom game to reach the one million milestone.

The game’s success looks to have been enough to warrant further games in the Dead Rising franchise. Capcom’s executive vice president Mark Beaumont told GamesIndustry.biz: “Bringing out Dead Rising has allowed us to establish a new franchise that we can use for years to come.“

There’s been no official announcement regarding Dead Rising sequels, but fans of the game can now be pretty hopeful that further games are on the way. You can read more about the game in Pro-G’s Dead Rising review.
