Capcom has sold over two million copies of Dead Rising 2 to retailers worldwide, making the zombie slicing sequel the most successful entry in the franchise.

To date the Dead Rising franchise has shipped over four million copies worldwide.

Capcom has also confirmed the acquisition of Blue Castle Games, developer of Dead Rising 2. Going forward the studio will be known as Capcom Game Studio Vancouver.

“We plan to leverage their considerable talents to evolve the skills of our global development staff as we continue to create great games that satisfy the demands of game players all over the world,” explained the publisher.

Shipped doesn’t necessarily mean sold, and it’s also worth noting that the original Dead Rising was released only on Xbox 360 at a time when the installed base of the console was considerably lower than it is today.
