Itagaki is reported to have shed some light on the next Dead or Alive game at the 10th anniversary event for Dead or Alive. At the event, Itagaki revealed that the tag battles found in Dead or Alive 4 will be removed from the fifth game, and that he also has a number of ideas in mind for the game.

He did not reveal any details on release platforms, but given his praise and support of the Xbox 360 it would be a surprise to see the game on any other platform. How the development of Dead or Alive 5 fits into Team Ninja’s schedule isn’t known, and it could be a few years before we see the fighting sequel.
