The first screenshot and details of Dead Island: Riptide have surfaced online, thanks to OXM.
The shot, which you can see above, shows two of the game’s survivors attempting to escape a zombie assault by motorboat, a new form of transport due to be included in the upcoming sequel.
According to the report, players can use the motorboat to “mince bodies” bobbing about in the water while travelling to new parts of the island.
The article also suggests that the game takes part on a “different part” of the original game’s tropical island, and continues the story of the original four characters. Players will also be able to import their character from the original game into Riptide, and the game will also introduce new zombies and weapons, including the new C4 mines.
The focus of the combat, however, will remain primarily melee-based, but guns are said to be “more plentiful”.
Dead Island: Riptide is due for release in 2013.
