Dead Island developer Techland has been spotted filing a US trademark for something called Dead World.

Siiconera spotted the filing, which suggests the zombie plague will say goodbye to the island of Hanoi and turn the whole world into a shuffling horde of the walking dead.

Speaking to Eurogamer, Techland refused to comment on the matter.

Dead Island was in development at Techland for years – the game was originally scheduled for release in 2008 – but the game finally grabbed the attention of the internet after some swishy CGI trailer.

As for the actual game? VideoGamer.com handed it a 6/10 in its Dead Island review, calling the open world zombie basher an “astonishingly boring apocalypse”.

Obviously the third game in the series is going to be called Dead Galaxy. Fact.
