Dead By Daylight has a lot of chapters lined up for the remainder of 2025. FNAF is set to fully release on June 17th for all platforms, and then there will be two licensed survivors in July, believed to possibly be from The Walking Dead. After July, we will then be treated to an original killer for September stemming from “Asian folklore”. DBD fans theorised that this killer could possibly be a Spider-Woman, and a Dead By Daylight developer has told fans to “stop yelling” at each other over arachnophobia and accessibility discourse.
Dead By Daylight devs response to Spider-Lady killer theory
Following the release of the FNAF PTB, there was a theory that the original “Asian folklore” killer coming in September could be Jorōgumo. This is because one of the defunct arcade machines in the Five Nights At Freddy’s map has the words Jorōgumo on it and seemingly depicts a Spider-Woman.
However, BeHaviour Interactive has responded to the theory and seemingly debunked any plans for a Spider-Lady killer to be added. In response to a tweet summarising the theory, the official Dead By Daylight account said, “While we love the speculative discussions going around, The only spindley limbs we currently plan to have in the Fog are those of The Entity!”.
This response was also given to a user that posted, “If the rumors are true about the September chapter being Jurōgomo then I hope they have an accessibility option for arachnophobia”. Regarding accessibility, BeHaviour said, “this has created a great discussion on topics of accessibility in Dead by Daylight, and we’re taking notes! So thank you for sharing your thoughts and concerns on how everyone can have a better experience within the game!”.
The mention of an accessibility option for arachnophobia resulted in a lot of heated discourse in the replies. Certain users defend the option as something that would be good for those who need it, meanwhile, naysayers ridiculed the idea because it’s a horror game and there are a multitude of other potentials triggers that already exist.
In response to the heated discourse, community manager, Eric Pope, posted, “please stop yelling at people for being afraid of spiders”. A lot of upset fans also assumed that BeHaviour’s response meant spider killers are off limits, to which Pope responded, “Note the word currently, it’s simply a fact that currently we aren’t working on a spider killer, doesn’t mean that’s always going to be the case”.
Regardless of thoughts on accessibility options for arachnophobia, it appears we are not getting a spider killer for September. It’s possible we could still get a Spider-Woman similar in design to Laura from The Evil Within, but don’t expect a killer that has the upper body of a woman and the lower body of a spider.
