On the LeaksDBD subreddit, OP, LeaklessDavidKing, reports that a 1v1 mode is “actively in testing” for Dead By Daylight. According to the leaker with an embedded screenshot as evidence, the 1v1 mode involves both players choosing a DBD killer. The aim is to “survive as long as possible,” and it will operate on a “best 2-out-of-3 style where both players play as both killers, and a tiebreaker if both win”.
Testing has included full size maps as well as “custom map variants” that are smaller areas with “far more jungle gyms”. BeHaviour is also considering open selection vs. a class system similar to 2v8 mode vs. a “limited pool for perks”. There is the possibility of leaderboards, and it is being “floated as a ‘limited-time mode,’” although it could be extended to weekends or “1-week long events at ‘regular intervals’”.
As for Killers, the OP claims that they are all available. This presumably means there won’t be a problem with licensing, unlike 2v8 mode. Previously, Mathieu Cote revealed the headaches surrounding licensed Killers for 2v8, saying, “You can have the Xenomorph chasing Ash Williams in the house that Michael Myers grew up in… [but] having the Nemesis and Chucky running around in a map together is a bigger step”.
There’s no mention of when 1v1 mode could become a reality as the OP simply states it is “actively in testing”. Of course, this is just a leak rather than anything official, and plans can always change or get cancelled.
Other recent Dead By Daylight leaks include two Survivors with a muscle queen inspired by WWE’s Rhea Ripley. The same leaker suggested Predator and Friday the 13th Chapters are “being worked on,” and, interestingly, Mathieu Cote has recently said he “can’t talk about” Jason joining DBD.
