Recently launched PS3 and PC MMO, DC Universe Online has become Sony Online Entertainment’s fastest-selling game ever, studio president John Smedley has revealed.
“Working on out-of-stock problems for DCUO,” he announced via Twitter on Sunday. “It’s our fastest selling game ever. Should have more inventory in Monday.”
Stock shortages have made it difficult for gamers to find retail copies, a possible factor in its chart decline from No.10 to No.22. While the PS3 version has been outselling the PC counterpart at retail, digital sales on PC have been strong – the MMO was the best-selling game on Steam last week.

While it’s good to see DC Universe achieving modest success, we’ve seen many an MMO launch well only to see its subscriber base falter a few months down the line. The real test will be if DC can keep its players interested beyond the initial 30 days included in the box.
