DC Universe Online will be making the leap to free-to-play starting November 1, SOE has confirmed.
Users who play for free will be able to access Gotham City and Metropolis, as well as raids and alerts, Gamasutra reports. However if they spend over $5 through microtransactions, they will become a Premium player and gain extra character slots, inventory slots, a greater cash limit, and the ability to purchase further downloadable adventure packs.
Continued subscribers, or Legendary players, will be able to access the full game, as well as all DLC for free at $15 monthly.
The MMO’s producer Lorin Jameson explained the move to free-to-play was to enable more players to access the game, stating that low subscription numbers were not the issue.
