DBD Garden of Joy map continues to cause misery because of a frustrating spawn bug

With Behaviour Interactive having launched DBD in 2016, its map pool has grown considerably since then, not only getting several original designs but also a handful of iconic locations from various horror movie franchises. Unfortunately, not every map can be a hit with the game’s player base. And out of all the ones that Behaviour has added to the DBD rotation, one has arguably become the most infamous of them all (for killer mains, at least): the Garden of Joy.

Added as part of patch 6.0.0 in 2022, the Garden of Joy is a sprawling map featuring a large mansion as its primary structure, an ever-present killer shack, and plenty of pallets and windows that spawn close together for survivors to loop the killer around. This time, however, the innumerable ‘god’ pallets aren’t the reason for the recent player complaints. Instead, it’s because of a frustrating spawn bug that prevents you from moving for the entire match.

The Garden of Joy spawn bug also doesn’t choose its victims; you can get hit with it no matter if you’re playing as a survivor or killer. However, it is worth pointing out that it’s much worse for the latter since killers can’t get downed, so you essentially have to quit the game or ride it out until all the survivors exit.

If you haven’t experienced this glitch yet, you’re one of the lucky ones. Over on X (formerly Twitter), user JuggleYT wasn’t as fortunate after sharing a clip of them entering a match as Oni, only to get rooted in place because of the bug. User jillxlara shared a similar video, only with them playing as a survivor instead.

Even though this has seemingly been an issue for a few days now (user ExistentionalCrisis3 first shared their own clip in late July), Behaviour Interactive still has yet to address it. But with complaints continuing to rise, it may only be a matter of time before they pull the killswitch on Garden of Joy to get rid of the bug.
