In a cooperative multiplayer game like DBD, bots are an inevitability because, let’s face it, tilted players often disconnect early on in matches. Naturally, once a bot replaces one of your teammates, it gives the killer a tremendous advantage because Dwight Fairfield_00 tends to do their own thing. But what if the game gave them an unfair perk, like, say, infinite Sprint Burst? Though that’s unlikely to be an actual feature anytime soon, one player unfortunately experienced it due to an exhaustion bug.
Based on Reddit user ohsrymb‘s clip, their chase against Jeff Johansen_00 began like any other: they were close to hitting the bot until it got a speed boost, seemingly due to Sprint Burst. However, after the bot vaulted a fence, things became surprisingly tricky. Instead of the speed boost wearing off due to exhaustion, it continued indefinitely. Luckily, bots don’t have the savviness of real players when it comes to looping, and after slow-vaulting the same fence again, the killer finally downed them.
According to user Yosmow, this exhaustion bug happens when a survivor disconnects right after using their exhaustion perk. In this instance, the player who DC’ed used Sprint Burst right before leaving, giving their bot counterpart a speed boost that would give Usain Bolt a run for his money. This also isn’t the only instance of this exhaustion bug happening, as another player noted, “It’s like the 15th time this has happened.”
As of writing, DBD developer Behaviour Interactive has yet to respond to these exhaustion bug complaints. However, that’s to be expected since their July 2024 roadmap has already teased a busy next few weeks for the game. Hopefully, though, this issue gets resolved sooner rather than later because no killer wants to spend the entirety of a match chasing after an uncatchable bot.
