Bohemia Interactive announced that DayZ will receive a brand new map, during Microsoft’s latest Inside Xbox presentation.

After five years of survivors picking Chernarus clean, the new Livonia map will offer a collection of challenges for players to contend with. It’s based on Arma 3's Contact Expansion map, and boasts a scenic forested land with lakes and rivers. That, of course, means that it is grizzly bear territory.

The bears are a new predator to DayZ and complicate matters thoroughly, not including the shambling, infected populace. In the announcement on the game's official website, Bohemia said, ‘Bears will give you a hard time if you don't know how to deal with them.’ I am fairly certain this rule also applies in reality.

Livonia is a sprawling 163 kilometers square, and will open the heavens on survivors on occasion. ‘Make sure to be properly geared and on the look out for shelter at all times,’ Bohemia advised. The developer’s plans for DayZ for the remainder of 2019 are to continue improving the game by fixing bugs and balancing it. New content in the shape of weapons and vehicles are headed to the game, and stable base building is a priority.

DayZ is out now on Xbox One, PC, and PlayStation 4. Watch the Livonia announcement trailer below.
