Free-to-play action RPG Dauntless is set to leave open beta on PC and formally enter a release state, as well as launch on consoles later this month.

As per the announcement on the game's blog and via press release, developer Phoenix Labs thanked the fans for participating in the game's open beta and confirmed the exact date of launch to be May 21, slightly missing the earlier projected target of April.

The game itself has been compared to Monster Hunter, with players setting out on hunts to take down a menagerie of wild beasts while exploring a collection of floating islands known as the Shattered Skies.

Dauntless is free to play, and will be available on Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC via the Epic Games Store.
