A demo for FromSoftware’s Dark Souls isn’t likely, according to game director Hidetaka Miyazaki.

Speaking with 4gamer (translated by andriasang), Miyazaki said that he doesn’t feel the appeal of Dark Souls can be conveyed in a short play time. The game designer also feels that he’s simply not very good at making demos.

Miyazaki skirted around the subject of Demon’s Souls 2, revealing that while he wanted to make a sequel to the cult PS3 game, “various things” prevent it from happening.

Demon’s Souls didn’t receive a demo either, so it’s no surprise that the spiritual sequel isn’t suitable for the sampler treatment. The game, if like its predecessor, simply won’t translate to a short burst of play, with hours needed to be invested before you get a feel for the experience.
