Up to 32 players will be able to battle it out online in a revolutionary Crusade mode, allowing players to gain experience and acquire new equipment in dynamic online campaigns. According to Ubisoft “the dynamic campaign means that you will be able to play online matches with the results of one round impacting on the next one: the results will determine the next map, and also the items/skills you will be able to gain between rounds.“

Players can chose from five character classes, each with specific strengths and weaknesses:

Assassin: A weak character with melee and stealth skills. The assassin will hide in the shadows to strike swiftly. The assassin’s skills include invisibility, silent movement, poison, resistance, and setting traps.

Warrior: Strong and melee oriented. As you’d expect from a warrior, he will crush the enemy with brute force. The warrior’s skills include strike harder, run faster, and endure better.

Priest: The priest is more of a support character than a front man. They are weak, use ranged attacks and can spot invisible threats. The priest’s skills include the ability to pinpoint assassins, and healing spells.

Mage: Another weak character, also with ranged attacks. Able to cast spells that inflict damage to groups of enemies. Skills include improve spells, learning new spells, and increase resistance.

Archer: A weak character with long ranged attacks and sniper able to deliver heavy damage. Skills include fast reload, zoom, and multiple shots.

Many classic multiplayer modes, such as Deathmatch and Team Deathmatch, will be included, but Ubisoft is keen to highlight Evolution mode, in which you will play character classes that have the opportunity to evolve during the online campaign.

Speaking of multiplayer, Ubisoft is starting a closed multiplayer beta for the game. You can find out more information and sign up for the beta here.

The multiplayer element of Dark Messiah of Might and Magic is in development at Kuju Entertainment, and the full game is scheduled for release on PC this September.
