Danish TV station TV2 has admitted to having used a screen shot from Assassin’s Creed to illustrate the Damascus skyline, reports The Times of Israel.

TV2 head of News Jacob Nybroe said that the picture used as a backdrop to news anchor Cecilie Beck on February 26 was taken from Ubisoft’s open-world action game.

Apparently, one of TV2’s employees found the Assassin’s Creed image online and thought it was a photo of the Damascus skyline, which fit nicely with the report on Syria.

Nybroe said it was a bad mistake to make and acts as a “reminder to us all of the importance of verifying the sources of pictures”.
