At the Microsoft Gamescom 2017 conference, Studio MDHR released a bunch of screenshots from its long-in-development but coming really soon, honestly, game Cuphead. To be fair it looks jolly good, and shows that good art design can really go a long way.

During the livestream, the developers waxed lyrical about how the game had been entirely hand painted, and discussed how it had implemented traditional animation design into the development of the game.

After what’s felt like an aeon, Cuphead will finally be coming out this year, on September 29 to be specific. Cuphead has also been announced as one of the games that’ll receive visual enhancements on Xbox One X.

Cuphead will release on September 29 for Xbox One and PC.
