The cult-classic FMV (full motion video) game Night Trap is coming to PlayStation 4 and Steam in August. The publisher Screaming Villains has announced that a physical copy of the 25th anniversary re-release will come to the PS4 first on August 11, followed by digital releases for PS4 and PC on August 15. The Xbox One version is still in the works, but doesn’t have a release date, yet.

The physical release will replicate the cover art from the original Sega CD release, and is being published by Limited Run Games. There are two versions currently listed as ‘coming soon’ on the Limited Run Games website; the collector’s edition will come with a cassette tape of the infamous game’s theme, a 4-inch custom embroidered Special Control Attack Team patch on black ballistic fibre and a large fold-out poster. All three platforms will get some new features, such as a behind-the-scenes documentary, deleted scenes and a theater mode, so you can delve into that ever-so-racy content once more.

Both of the physical releases will actually be limited runs, and only for the PS4. The standard edition will be limited to 5000 copies worldwide, whereas the collector’s edition will be limited to 3000 copies worldwide.

Night Trap – 25th Anniversary Edition was originally planned for a spring release but sadly it missed this date. With a new date finally confirmed, it won’t be long before you can get your hands on a piece of gaming history. This time around copies will be so scarce they won’t be able to be removed from shelves because of the game’s suggestive content.
