Crush 3D, a redesigned version of the acclaimed PSP title Crush, will be released for Nintendo 3DS this September in Europe, Australia and North America, SEGA has announced.

Crush tells the story of Dan, a man who has turned into a nervous insomniac and is too tired to change his life. In a last attempt to cure his insomnia he turns to hypnosis, and it’s during this state that he must sort through his life’s wreckage before he goes insane.

Players will navigate across the surreal platforms of Danny’s mind by ‘crushing’ their way from a 2D to a 3D world and back again whenever required. ‘Crushing’ the game world will allow Danny to overcome obstacles, reach new heights and remove threats from enemies.

Based on the PSP title, Crush 3D will offer features specifically designed for the Nintendo 3DS, including new locations, characters and a hint system. The game also promises to make “complete use” of the Nintendo 3DS’ capabilities, including the ability to leave gifts for friends to collect in-game using StreetPass.

Crush 3D will be released on September 9 in Europe.

The game is looking quite different on the 3DS, sporting a new art style that’s moved away from the trippy visuals found in the PSP version. We’re not completely sold on the idea of porting over titles made for 2D to the 3DS, but this is one game which should really benefit from the 3D capabilities of the handheld.
