Crimson Desert is an ambitious single-player, open-world RPG from Pearl Abyss, the developers of the MMO Black Desert Online. One of the game’s most striking features is its expansive open-world, which the developers have stated is “at least twice as big” as Skyrim in terms of playable area.

The game has now gone gold, meaning it will not suffer any further delays. Although Crimson Desert is a fully single-player experience, Pearl Abyss has previously revealed plans during a call with investors to release a separate multiplayer mode post-launch, drawing comparisons to GTA Online.

In the lead-up to its March 19 release, Pearl Abyss has showcased several impressive gameplay demos, including footage featuring Baldur’s Gate 3 Astarion voice actor Neil Newbon. Crimson Desert was first announced in 2019, and after years of anticipation, we are now just one month away from finding out whether it can live up to its Game of the Year potential.

Although we’ve seen plenty of the game already, there are rumors of a February State of Play, where it could potentially be shown off again.
