Creed star Michael B. Jordan is to take a leading role in this year’s NBA 2K17, 2K has announced.

Jordan – not to be confused with former basketball player Michael Jordan, of course – will star in the game’s single-player mode MyCAREER as ‘rising NBA star’ Justice Young, the player’s friend ‘and support system’ throughout the story, providing full motion-capture and voiceover for the role.

“NBA 2K17 was the perfect platform to connect with a new, unique audience and challenge myself to expand my abilities as an actor,” said Jordan. “I’m humbled at the opportunity to help influence a franchise that I’ve been a passionate fan of since its first release.”

Besides Creed, Jordan previously appeared in Fantastic Four, The Wire and Chronicle. You’ll probably also recognise his voice as Jace Stratton from Gears of War 3.

NBA 2K17 launches on PS4, Xbox One, Xbox 360, PS3 and PC on September 16.
