THQ has today announced the development of Deadly Creatures, an original action thriller title coming exclusively to Wii in 2008.

The game is in development at THQ’s Rainbow Studios and sees players follow the adventures of an armoured scorpion and a stealthy tarantula as they struggle for survival against a host of creatures including vicious Gila monsters, tarantula wasps, black widows, and Man.

THQ is promising full utilisation of the Wii’s motion-based control system, making it possible for players to fully experience every pounce and tail sting. The action also promises to offer a depth not often found in a Wii title, featuring rich combo-based combat.

Randy Shoemaker, director of global brand management, THQ believes the title is “raising the bar for all 3rd party Wii titles”.

Nick Wlodyka, executive producer and general manager, Rainbow Studios is also highly optimistic about the in development title promising “some of the best visuals to date on the Wii”.

The Wii is certainly short on quality titles for the more hardcore gamer and Deadly Creatures sounds like it could join the likes of Resident Evil 4 when it releases later this year.
