Crash Bandicoot will be playable in the PS3 and PS4 versions of Skylanders Imaginators, Activision has confirmed, thanks to a special Crash Bandicoot Starter Pack available at launch.
Available for $99.99 ($25 more than the standard Starter Pack), the Crash Bandicoot edition contains the full contents of the Starter Pack plus Crash Bandicoot as a playable toy, letting fans take control of the much-loved marsupial in the game.
“Vicarious Visions has a long history with Crash and our office is full of hardcore fans,” narrative lead David A. Rodriguez wrote on PlayStation Blog. “When we were given the opportunity to bring Crash Bandicoot to Skylands, we knew we’d need to really deliver on a true Crash experience.
“It was no easy task, but I’m happy to say we’re extremely proud of the version of Crash we’ve brought to life. We’ve maintained Crash’s unique and quirky personality and his, y’know, innate Wumpa-ness, as both a 3D character and a new toy.”

Crash will have access to a variety of moves, including his classic spin attack along with a rocket launcher and jetpack. Witch doctor friend Aku Aku will be making an appearance, too.
“In Skylanders Imaginators, a wormhole has opened in Skylands and the great Aku Aku appears!” explains Skylanders. “He comes to announce the once in two decades Synchronization Celebration. It is the time when all of the worlds align perfectly. They are having a huge celebration event in the Wumpa Islands and want to invite the Skylanders. But with Kaos on a quest to take over Skylands using his army of Doomlanders, the Skylanders must focus on stopping his evil plans. Never one to shy away from danger, the legendary marsupial Crash Bandicoot travels through the wormhole to join the Skylanders in the ultimate battle against Kaos!”
It isn’t yet known whether the Crash Bandicoot Skylander will be available to purchase separately, or whether stock of the Crash Bandicoot Starter Pack will be in limited supply.
Skylanders Imaginators launches in the UK on PS4, Xbox One, Xbox 360, PS3 and Wii U on October 14.
