Although Microsoft hadn’t officially delayed the title, Crackdown had been rumoured to miss its 2006 release date, and now it’s been confirmed. A new fact sheet released for the title has revealed that we won’t be seeing Crackdown until Q1 2007. Being a fact sheet, there was no reason given to explain the delay, but one assumes it simply wasn’t going to be finished in time.

This is the second of Microsoft Game Studios’ releases, the other being Forza Motorsport 2, which has recently slipped into 2007, leaving first-party support for the Xbox 360 a little slim this Christmas. Microsoft still has one bona-fide smash hit on its hands with Gears of War, but the success of Viva Piñata and Fuzion Frenzy 2 are far from certain.
