Microsoft Game Studios’ corporate vice president Shane Kim has revealed that a Crackdown sequel is on the cards, although developer Real Time Worlds has chosen to pursue other options.

Speaking to Wired’s Game Life blog, Kim said: “We still love Crackdown. We consider that a pretty successful title for us, high-quality, I think that customers would like to see more in that space. So that’s an option for us.

“And any intellectual property that we own can always be on the table. And the good news is that we happen to own the Crackdown IP.”

It’s good to hear that Microsoft hasn’t abandoned what was an immensely fun new game property, but with Real Time Worlds working on other projects the franchise would have to be given to another developer if we’re to see a sequel any time soon.
