Publisher Feardemic and new development studio King’s Pleasure have announced action adventure game Cosmic, set for launch in 2022.
Set in a “multilayered universe where light and shadow dictate its metaphysical rules” (blimey) you play as Vik. They’re a small, mischievous being whose best and only friend is their own shadow. One day, this shadow goes missing thanks to an errant wish, and Vik wakes up at the bottom of a mysterious world with a brand new, bigger shadow. The new shadow’s owner isn’t as friendly, and actually belongs to a beast now hunting Vik. The unlikely duo will have to co-operate to survive.
Cosmic will offer two styles of gameplay to suit Vik and his new shadow. While Vik is stealthy and can hide in the dark, the Shadow is aggressive and can perform deadly melee attacks. You’ll travel across multiple worlds, find items and unlock new abilities as you go in what sounds like a very Metroidvania-esque manner. We’re promised a “fresh style of horror narrative” and distinguishable art style too.
It certainly sounds like Cosmic has some pedigree behind it. The development team boasts names that have worked on games like Cyberpunk 2077 and Vampire: The Masquerade Coteries of New York. You can check out the game’s reveal trailer down below.
Cosmic is aiming for Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch and PC in 2022.
