Sam Lake, chief writer on Control and creative director at Remedy Entertainment, has announced that he’s hard at work on a “new story” at the studio (via PlayStation LifeStyle).
Control was a runaway success, and how could it not be? It’s got those spooky, Lynch-ian visuals with a seemingly sentient House and the ability to levitate while firing a geometric gun that changes shape. Tick, tick, tick. The game has a bundle of follow-up content coming its way, and so it’s unlikely that Lake is adding to the pile.
Shh! I’m in my brand new top secret writing lair. I #amwriting a new story. You have been warned. @remedygames pic.twitter.com/IvsooHZCuc

Taking the tweet literally, it could be an entirely new IP. Remedy likes a clean slate and it could be taking forward what it learned from Control, Quantum Break, and Alan Wake into a whole new world. However, in July, the developer received the rights to Alan Wake from Microsoft. One of Control’s future DLCs looks like it might have a connection to Bright Falls, and there are Easter eggs in the game that reference the novelist.
Curious. But, we must take this announcement with a pinch of salt. Lake could also be busying himself on the Alan Wake television adaptation, because he is its executive producer. Peter Calloway, known for Cloak and Dagger and Legion, will be the showrunner. We don’t know what Lake is up to and we likely won’t hear for quite some time. Once we receive an update, we’ll keep you in the loop.
