SEGA has today announced a worldwide partnership with High Voltage Software to publish and distribute the Wii exclusive first-person shooter, The Conduit.

The Conduit is a futuristic FPS which developer High Voltage claims leverages next-generation technology to deliver a cutting edge experience on Wii, unlike any other title on the console.

“Bringing The Conduit into our library is yet another show of SEGA’s belief that the Wii is more than a casual games console,” said Gary Knight, European marketing director at SEGA of Europe Ltd.. “As one of the most anticipated Wii games for next year, The Conduit will be the new benchmark for first person shooters.”

High Voltage Software CEO and founder Kerry Ganofsky added: “SEGA shares our vision for the title and its tremendous potential, which is why we chose them from a long list of potential partners. With their support, we are confident that The Conduit will deliver the definitive shooter experience that Wii fans have been waiting for since the system’s launch.”

In The Conduit players take control of Mr. Ford, a Secret Service agent who has been sent to Washington D.C. to eradicate a vicious alien race known as The Drudge. Players will be armed with an array of futuristic weaponry and an intelligence-gathering device called the All-Seeing Eye.

The game will also support the Wii Speak peripheral, allowing players to chat as they take part in multiplayer game modes. The peripheral support doesn’t end there, with High Voltage also confirming support for Wii MotionPlus, offering optimal control for players who demand it.

The Conduit is scheduled for release in spring 2009.
