A sequel to the much-loved WW2 RTS Company of Heroes has been unearthed via a leaked magazine cover.

An eager NeoGAF poster thumbed through an upcoming issue of PC Gamer to get hold of the information.

Details are still a little scarce, but the game’s main campaign takes place on the Eastern Front, with players micromanaging the Russian army as they battle Nazis.

One of the big new features is snow (you can’t put a WW2 campaign on the Eastern Front without snow), which is reported to slow down infantry and tanks but can also form cover.

Infantry units will also be able to vault over walls, which should make the cover-based tactics of the original a little more interesting.

It is believed that original developer Relic will be behind the wheel, and that the game will be released for PC in 2013.

The 2006 original was one of the RTS genre’s highlights of the last decade. “Company of Heroes’ combination of heart-pounding action, visceral presentation and emergent tactics not so much raises the bar for RTS games but twists it into knots and blasts it into orbit” wrote Iain McCafferty in VideoGamer.com’s 9/10 Company of Heroes review.

THQ has yet to officially confirm Company of Heroes 2.
