Electronic Arts has revealed that its planned Command & Conquer remasters won’t feature microtransactions. Phew!
Producer Jim Vessella was asked about the feature on Reddit, to which he responded succinctly: ‘we will not be adding any microtransactions to a C&C Remaster.’ Well, that’s good to know you won’t be able to buy a Mammoth Tank with real-life money.
Not much is known about the Command & Conquer remasters right now, only that EA is planning to have them out to coincide with the series’ 25th anniversary in 2002.
We don’t actually have confirmation of what games will be remastered, although personally I’d love to see Command & Conquer and Command & Conquer: Red Alert (including the Covert Operations, Counter-Strike, and Aftermath expansions) given a new lick of paint.
Vessella has indicated that the games will utilise a completely new user interface similar to the one seen in Command & Conquer 3: Tiberium Wars. Sounds good to me.
