Command & Conquer 3: Kane’s Wrath has been announced as the first expansion for EA’s smash-hit RTS Command & Conquer 3 for PC and Xbox 360.

The expansion is scheduled for release early in 2008 and will focus on Brotherhood of Nod leader, Kane. We’re told it will chronicle Kane’s rise back to power after the second Tiberium War and will continue all the way through the third Tiberium War and beyond.

Producer Jim Vessale has said the expansion will feature high-definition live action sequences, with a number of C&C3’s cast reprising their roles plus the introduction of several new characters.

Vessale also noted the expansion’s focus on the global domination metagame – a board game-like experience described as “Risk on steroids“. The producer also promised that the expansion will introduce new units, powers and upgrades and will split each of the three factions into two sub-factions.

A new addition for the Xbox 360 version is a revolutionary radial interface designed specifically for console gamers. The new interface has been designed to speed up the process of issuing orders to player’s units.

Unlike the original game, the expansion is scheduled to ship simultaneously for PC and Xbox 360, although spring 2008 is all EA wants to commit to at this time.
