Electronic Arts has confirmed details on its planned its Command & Conquer remasters, with former members of developer Westwood Studios working on the projects at Petroglyph Games.

The publishing giant confirmed last month it was exploring the idea of revamping the classic real-time strategy series for its 25th anniversary.  Now, EA has revealed it is officially remastering Command & Conquer and Command & Conquer: Red Alert, both of which includes the expansions Covert Ops, Counterstrike, and Aftermath.

The best bit? There’s no microtransactions. Rejoice!

There’s not much else known about the remasters themselves, only that they’ll be coming to PC and will be displayed in shiny 4K. However, the fact they will be handled by members of the original development team is definitely good news.

Command & Conquer was released back in 1995, and introduced the world to the conflict between GDI and the Brotherhood of Nod. Red Alert followed soon after, taking place in an alternate timeline that saw Adolf Hitler zapped from existence and Russia rising to power under Joseph Stalin’s iron fist.

EA hasn’t said if it will be remastering any further games in the series yet, although personally I think Command & Conquer: Tiberium Sun and Red Alert 2 would benefit from a bit of spit and polish.
