Dark Souls-flavoured action title Code Vein has received a fresh batch of new gameplay footage for you to gawk at, offering a detailed glimpse at the game’s blood-splattering combat system.

While there’s definitely a whiff of From Software’s acclaimed dungeon crawler in the midst of it all, Code Vein still manages to offer its own spin on the proceedings. Case in point, you can summon what appears to be two blood-thirsty wolves that effortlessly tear your foes to pieces, and the demonic duo can also be used to aid you with combos and other techniques during a scrap.

Code Vein fuses vampires with an open-world, post-apocalyptic landscape to battle across, and tops it all off with a dollop of anime-style visuals for good measure. The game is slated for release on PlayStation 4, PC, and Xbox One at some point this year.
