Treyarch community manager Josh Olin has confirmed that Call of Duty: Black Ops will launch with online split-screen support on both Xbox 360 and PS3.
The information had previously been revealed, but Olin’s post on the Black Ops blog, has cleared up a few uncertainties.
Black Ops split-screen facts:
– You can connect a 2nd controller and bring a Guest online.
– Guests can rank up, earn unlocks, etc – all Guest progress goes away once signed out.
– (Xbox 360 only) You can bring a 2nd, Gold Xbox LIVE account online
– (Xbox 360 only) Both players with full online accounts can rank-up while playing split-screen, as if on two separate consoles.
Call of Duty: Black Ops will be released on November 9, 2010.
So often these days split-screen gaming is overlooked. It’s especially great to see the inclusion of online split-screen, meaning players in one console households will be able to play online concurrently.
Better still, on Xbox 360 players will have the ability to rank-up while playing in split-screen, meaning stats won’t be lost when logging off. Sadly this feature isn’t available to PS3 players.
