Industry veteran Cliff Bleszinski has announced plans to come “out of retirement” and return to games development.

“I’m officially coming out of retirement to make video games again,” Bleszinski tweeted last night. “Stay tuned here for details in the next 7 days!”

Bleszinski, who is most famous for his role as design director on Gears of War, developed his first game aged 17 before going on to work at Epic Games. He left the company in 2012 and later opened a restaurant in downtown Raleigh.

Despite leaving the games industry, however, Bleszinski has previously teased plans for his next project. Last August, he released a piece of concept art showing a guard patrolling a canyon, with floating rocks appearing in the background. Could it be linked to whatever he’s up to next?

“It’s going to be a blast to finally tell the story of what brought me back,” he added.
