Clair Obscur Expedition 33 is one of the favorites for the coveted Game of the Year prize, but a campaign has launched to get its OST nominated for a Grammy category no video game has ever been awarded. There are a whole bunch of awards Expedition 33 could sweep come the end of the year. The entire industry has heaped praise on the game with fellow developers citing it as proof to publishers gamers don’t want live-service slop, and former PlayStation Boss, Shawn Layden, has hailed it as paving the way for a “rebirth” of AA games. While we expect Clair to be a prominent Game of the Year contender in December, the Grammys are also being targeted.

Clair Obscur Expedition 33 seeks historic Grammy nomination

Laced Records has launched a campaign for the Clair Obscur Expedition 33 OST by Lorien Testard to be nominated for the category Best Score Soundtrack for Video Games and Other Interactive Media. They are also targeting the category, Best Song Written for Visual Media, with Lumière by Lorien Testard & Alice Duport-Percier. If nominated for Best Song Written for Visual Media, this would be a first for any video game.

Best Score Soundtrack for Video Games and Other Interactive Media was established as a Grammy category in 2023, and below are the previous nominations and winners:

2023:

  • Aliens: Fireteam Elite – Austin Wintory
  • Call of Duty Vanguard – Bear McCreary
  • Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy – Richard Jacques
  • Old World – Christopher Tin
  • Assassin’s Creed Valhalla: Dawn of Ragnarok – Stephanie Economou [Winner]

2024:

  • Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II – Sarah Schachner
  • God of War Ragnarök – Bear McCreary
  • Hogwarts Legacy – Peter Murray, J Scott Rakozy and Chuck Myers
  • Stray Gods: The Roleplaying Musical – Jess Serro, Tripod and Austin Wintory
  • Star Wars Jedi: Survivor – Stephen Barton and Gordy Haab [Winner]

2025:

  • Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora – Pinar Toprak
  • God of War Ragnarök: Valhalla – Bear McCreary
  • Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 – John Paesano
  • Star Wars Outlaws – Wilbert Roget II
  • Wizardry: Proving Grounds of the Mad Overlord – Winifred Phillips

It seems a shoo-in for Clair Obscur Expedition 33 to at least be nominated for Best Score Soundtrack for Video Games and Other Interactive Media, and it would be a favorite to win. However, receiving a nomination for Best Song Written for Visual Media will be a lot harder as that’s competing against movies and television. Also, no song from a video game has ever received a nomination in the category since its birth back in 1988.

We would absolutely love for Lumière to receive a nomination as it’s a beautiful song and it deserves to be recognized by the entire world. Hopefully Clair Obscur Expedition 33 can succeed in its efforts to make history, and all will be revealed when the nominations are announced on November 7th.

In other Clair Obscur news, Sandfall Interactive has promised Expedition 33 is “not the end” of the franchise as it’s just “one of the stories” the developer wants to tell.
