Infogrames yesterday announced continuing losses over the six-months trading to September at their half-year results yesterday – and also tucked away the fact that they have sold one of their biggest franchises to a rival publisher.

The multi-award winning series has been a rather successful cash cow over the years, and with the fourth instalment having been announced by developer Firaxis Games last year any potential impact on development is unknown.

The deal, which netted Infogrames a rather-cool $22.3 million, did not help with the share price – which fell some 12.2% on the news -, nor did it give any clues as to the lucky recipient. Thus, speculation is rife, with one-time owner Activision being a potential name in the frame.
