In development for release alongside the motion picture in December, the Alvin and the Chipmunks video game will focus on the talented trio’s love for music, offering players a rhythm action experience.

The game will follow Alvin, Simon and Theodore’s music career as they work their way from small venues like schools to Burning Man and forest arenas to Rockathonapalooza. The game will feature 40 songs including Blink 182’s All The Small Things, REM’s Shiny Happy People and Run DMC’s It’s Tricky. Each song will be performed in the classic chipmunk style.

The game is scheduled for release in North America on December 4 for PS2, Wii, PC and Nintendo DS. Although we’ve heard nothing about a European release, the movie is scheduled to hit Europe in December so it would make sense for the game to arrive around the same time.
