Capcom has put up a comparison video showing, side by side, how Dragon’s Dogma looked on PS3 compared to the upcoming PS4 version. It’s no Witcher 3 or anything, but the current gen version of the 2012 sleeper hit RPG is looking pretty good, especially when you look at some of the textures on the clothes and outdoor environments.

Dragons Dogma originally came out in 2012 for the Xbox 360 and PS3, but was ported to the PC last year as Dragon’s Dogma: Dark Arisen. Dark Arisen is the version that’s imminently coming to current generation consoles on October 3. Dragon’s Dogma: Dark Arisen includes the base game, plus the expansion and a bunch of item packs and add ons from pre-orders.

Dragon’s Dogma picked up plaudits at the time for things like the day and night system, which did more than just changing the lighting: nights in Dragon’s Dogma are pitch black, and full of punishingly difficult monsters. In our review way back then, Jon Denton described it as ‘ambitious and thought provoking‘.

Dragon’s Dogma: Dark Arisen is out on Xbox One and PS4 on October 3 in North America and Europe, and October 5 in Japan.
