Codemasters has confirmed it was forced to reset the online ranking leaderboard for Race Driver GRID on Xbox 360 because of exploits cheating players were using to gain unfair ranks.

“Given the number of reports we’ve had of people abusing the ranking system to get unfair ranks, it was only fair that we did a reset. It’s never an easy decision to make, and we’d rather it hadn’t come to this, but changes in the patch should make gaining those ranking points back fairer,” explained Codemasters’ Rich Tysoe.

The decision hasn’t gone down too well with the game’s enthusiasts, but Codemasters insists it was the “fairest solution”.

Codemasters has also explained that it is only the online ranking leaderboard which has been rest, with all other stats and data – including fastest lap times – remaining intact.
