Nobody wants a sequel to Shadow Complex, the hit Metroid-like Xbox Live arcade game, more than its developer Chair Entertainment, co-founder and creative director Donald Mustard has told GameSpot.

“We certainly love Shadow Complex. As much as there are fans out there that want more Shadow Complex, I promise they don’t want it more than we do,” Mustard said. “We want it more than anyone. When the time is right, we sure hope to return to the Shadow Complex series.”

The game was released back in August 2009, setting a new bar for quality and sales on the Xbox Live Arcade. Given its success a sequel seemed likely, especially given that much of the design work was said to have been done back in September 2011. All that was missing was a “partner that will help us to finish it so we can bring it to market,” Cliff Bleszinski said at the time.

Chair is now hugely successful with its iOS franchise Infinity Blade, which with over 40 million downloads to date will see its third game hit the App Store on September 18.
