The Witcher developer CD Projekt Red has released a statement saying that an individual or group of individual has a number of company files and is threatening to release them online

A portion of the documents relate to the Polish studio’s next game Cyberpunk 2077, but are said to be ‘old and largely unrepresentative of the current vision for the game.’

Those in possession of the files have demanded an undisclosed ransom, which CD Projekt Red said they will not be giving into. The developer has noted that ‘the appropriate legal authorities will be informed about the situation.’

They finish by saying fans would be best served to wait for Cyberpunk 2077 information to come from them, rather than seeking out anything that may be published by those who’ve obtained the files through illegal means.
