Castle Crashers Remastered is coming to Xbox One on September 9, developer The Behemoth has revealed.

The new, current-gen version promises a new mini-game called Back Off Barbarian, as well as 60fps gameplay, performance updates and improved textures.

The re-release will cost $14.99 in the US, with European pricing yet to be announced. However, the game will be free until September 20 for Xbox Live Gold members who previously owned the original Xbox 360 release. From September 21, the same group of players can purchase the remaster for $4.99.

The Behemoth also announced that the Xbox 360 version of Castle Crashers will, at some point, be playable on Xbox One via backwards compatibility. So if the remaster’s list of updates doesn’t sound like it’s your thing, you can always play the original in all its last-gen glory once Xbox One Backwards Compatibility launches in full this autumn.
