Stainless Games has announced Carmageddon: Max Damage, the latest entry in the classic blood-soaked racing series heading to PS4 and Xbox One later this year.

Due for release exclusively on console, the new game promises to include over 30 unique vehicles, more than 90 power ups and 10 large environments for players to explore as they mow down pedestrians, animals and aliens in their “custom killing machines”

As well as a career mode, Max Damage also throws in a multiplayer mode and an action replay mode that lets players “relive all the action again from any perspective”. It isn’t yet clear whether the multiplayer mode will be restricted to online multiplayer or local multiplayer, or whether there’ll be the option to play both.

“Carmageddon: Max Damage presents more carnage and mayhem than ever before, and will be available on consoles later this year,” said Stainless. “Set in a world of over-the-top violence, crazy PowerUps and non-stop laughs, you play against a bunch of complete crazies in twisted automotive killing machines whose aim is purely to maim you. It’s the racing game where racing is for wimps.”

While an exact release date has yet to be announced, the developer says to expect the game in mid-2016. For the first screenshots head through here or check out the trailer below.
