Capcom has fuelled speculation that it is readying confirmation of a PS3 version of Lost Planet 2 after it revealed plans for some “big” announcements at E3.

Capcom caused a degree of controversy when it announced Lost Planet 2 in February. The game is currently down for release only on the Xbox 360, although the company has been careful to avoid using the term “exclusive” when describing it.

During Capcom’s Captivate 09 event, Lost Planet 2 producer Jun Takeuchi was asked about the possibility of the game coming to the PS3. He replied: “The game is coming out on Xbox 360. Probably you want to know if it’s coming to other platforms other than the 360. We are not ready to announce anything about that at this time.”

Takeuchi went on to reveal that Capcom plans to have a playable build of the game at the E3 trade show, scheduled for the first week in June. He added: “We’re also looking forward to having some other big things that we can announce at E3.”

Takeuchi’s comments are sure to fuel speculation that Capcom will indeed release Lost Planet 2 on platforms other than the Xbox 360. The original Lost Planet, which has sold 2.2 million units worldwide, was first released on Xbox 360 back in January 2007. Versions for PC and PS3 followed at later dates.
